Even under different names, museums are here regarded as the institutions that present the characteristics and fulfill the museological functions covered in the concept of a museum, even if their respective collections include living species, either botanical or zoological, accounts resulting from the embodiment of ideas, the representation of existing or virtual realities, as well as assets of immovable, environmental and landscape cultural heritage.
